The practice improves health, provides longevity, and enables the development of an internal spiritual strength that survives physical death. The practice may be implied from the TAOIST teaching of “returning”; found in both Lao Tzu and the I Ching (Ye Jing). Not all forms of TAOISM adhere to these practices.
