What are symptoms of placenta previa?
I was told when I was 20 weeks pregnant I have placenta previa, and the only symptom of it is bleeding. Some women may have some cramping or contractions with the bleeding, however it is uncommon. I have done lots of research on the subject, and found that most women will not have the first bleed until around 32 weeks. But usually within a week or so it will come back. They can only tell if you have placenta previa through ultrasound, unless you bleed earlier, like in your 2nd trimester, and still even then, they would do an ultrasound to find where the bleeding is coming from. Since it is unlikely to miscarry in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, any bleeding is usually a good sign of placenta previa. But it can be something else. Anyway, this is a very serious condition, that could cause mother and baby to bleed severely, and in some cases the mother and baby can die.
