What are Swiss type products?
In the late 1800’s, the Swiss developed a cam-operated lathe (or automatic screw machine) specifically for producing watch parts. Swiss machines are designed for small or miniature parts and excel in producing long slender parts. Common to the early machines, and the CNC Swiss Turn machines today, is the sliding headstock design that functions with a guide bushing, providing a stationary support for the work piece while it is machined. This enables the machine to hold tight tolerances, produce parts that are very long in relation to their diameter, and produce very small or miniature parts.
