What are swirls?
Swirls are caused by a couple of different factors. One is improper buffing methods either the person buffing the car has used the wrong buffing pad or polish for the color, or kind of paint on the vehicle, or the technique of person buffing the car is not correct. Wiping the vehicle with an abrasive or dirty towel commonly causes bigger wipe like swirl marks. This is frequent in the “Do-It-Yourselfer” or at the mass car washes were the towels are used over and over. Darker color vehicles show the swirls more than the lighter colors, it has to do with the fact that the reflection of light is more intense off of the dark color vs. the lighter color vehicles. At Fx Pro Auto Salon, the staff is factory trained by product representative to insure the quality and know how to handle these problems. Solution: A 2-3 stage buffing/polishing/glazing process can usually eliminate the swirl marks, however sometimes the swirls will be into the clear coat to deep, which would require color sanding.
