What are SWIFTBIC and IBAN codes?
International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN) have been introduced to standardise the identification of bank accounts internationally. Your existing bank sort code and account number(s) have not been replaced – instead an IBAN has additional characters. To find out what your IBAN is, look on your paper statement – it usually sits near your name and address along with the SWIFT code. You may be asked to quote a SWIFT code when, for example, you are receiving money from abroad. For Barclays UK this is BARCGB22.
