What are Supercomputers Used for?
Supercomputers are used to process large amounts of data over a shorter amount of time than one computer would be able to do. Generally a supercomputer doesn’t exist, in reality supercomputers are made up of nothing more than a large group of networked computers, all tasked to do pieces of a puzzle. Currently a project called folding@foldingfolding@home uses the power of normal home computers that are idle, to process vast quantities of data, effectively running like the world’s largest supercomputer!
