What are SUDs?
SUDs are Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, they are drainage techniques that act to minimize the impact of urbanization on the natural environment. The ever increasing growth of impermeable urban areas leads to flooding and pollution of natural water bodies when heavy rainfall occurs. SUDs devices aim to prevent flooding by adding permeable surfaces, storage areas and water harvesting systems to slow the release of water to water courses which overall reduces the impact of urban areas on flooding.
