What are Student Reps?
Student Reps are students who speak on behalf of the people on their course. Where possible, every course should have 2 Student Reps, per level. What do they do? Student Reps are there to provide a student voice and to liaise between students and staff. Student Reps sit on various committees and provide a vital student viewpoint on issues and decisions affecting students. What’s the point? Well, if there were no Student Reps then students wouldn’t get a say in a variety of issues such as assessments, teaching, resources and support. Being a Student Rep is an important job and one that carries the potential to exercise significant changes within the University. What’s in it for me? Not only is it a rewarding role, but it is also a fantastic asset to your CV as it provides evidence of a number of highly desirable qualities employers are looking for. The Union runs an accreditation scheme providing a certificate to prove just this. You are not alone! There are many avenues of support and
