Spider Veins—are the small red, blue and purple blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and thighs. Spider veins form when excess blood backs up in the blood stream. The body releases this pressure by developing new veins. The spider veins may cause aching, swelling, burning, and night cramps in the legs. Reticular Veins—are the blue veins located well below the skin’s surface and are larger than spider veins. They are often the source of spider veins and should be removed in order to achieve an optimum result. Varicose Veins—are usually larger than ¼ inch in diameter and may appear raised with a bluish color. They are likely to cause pain and may also be related to more serious vein disorders.
