What are special designators?
. All ASU students must complete a number of specially designated courses distributed throughout the curriculum. These courses introduce students to essential skills or knowledge in the areas of writing (W), speaking (S), numerical data (ND), computer (C), multicultural (MC), and cross-disciplinary (CD). Designator requirements are somewhat different depending on which catalog is being used (students who entered ASU prior to fall 2004 will have a slightly different set of special designator requirements from students who entered fall 2004 or after. Be sure to check with your academic advisor to verify which special designators you must meet. For COB majors, most of these are met automatically with courses you have to take anyway. The area that requires special attention is the multicultural designator area (MC).
