What are some work hazards of the process of electrolysis?
I can answer that question based on my observations in the copper mining industry of Arizona. Electrolysis is used in the recovery of copper from a copper sulfate solution. The hazards are associated with the electrical currents needed in the process. Large copper plates are placed into the copper sulfate and someone must walk around the plates to make sure they are not creating a short circuit. The person must be protected from this electrical current by wearing insulated boots and gloves. In addition they were respirators to prevent them from breathing in too much toxic gas as the electrolysis process tends to give off sulfur gases. Of course there are other hazards working with the machinery that lifts the plates and how they transport them from one place to another, but that is about it for the actual electrolysis part.
