What are some ways to make my cheerleading jumps higher?
is a common misconception that you have to be flexible to have high jumps. As long as you have a decent straddle split (no, you don’t have to be anywhere near a middle split!) you can have amazing jumps! You could be the most flexible person in the world, but if you don’t have strong abs and legs, you’re not going to be able to kick them very high. The most important thing is that you have strong legs to jump high enough to get the air time to kick your legs up that high and still have time to snape them back down before you land. It also helps to snap your legs down faster if you have strong legs, and will prevent you from landing with your feet apart (which is bad technique) and also keep you from hurting your knees. Strong ab muscles also help you to kick your legs up and to help you rotate them. There are obviously many ways of building the muscles in your legs, but there is NO better way to work ALL of the muscles that you use in your jumps than by simply doing the jumps themselve
