What are some warning signs that my 13 month old baby is ill and indicate that I should contact the pediatrician?
It is always best to contact your child’s pediatrician when she exhibits the following symptoms: a rectal temperature of 101 degrees Fahrenheit or higher; a vomiting spell followed by diarrhea; ear infections, which are indicated by the baby swiping at her ear or being irritable at night; rashes and skin conditions; the development of a persistent cough, excessive irritability, or sleepiness; and a loss of appetite. Also, if you give your baby what you think are adequate feedings yet she is still hungry afterwards, then you should consult with the pediatrician. Source : Shelow, S.S. & Hannemann, R.E. (1998).
