What are some uses of telephony products?
The most common use of telephony is for turning your computer into a speakerphone using your modem, a soundcard with speakers and an added microphone. Here are some other applications: Voice recognition. This seemed possible only in sci-fi movie a few years ago, but telephony products allow voice recognition communication with your computer. See more about that in the next question. Voice/video e-mail. Another exciting use is joining a microphone with your Web camera, which allows you to send recorded picture and voice messages to others via e-mail. Live chat. Another recent development has been verbal communication over the Internet. Now, instead of typing in chat rooms, you can actually talk. Gaming. There are multiple gaming applications, including the ability to communicate with teammates and/or opponents.
