What are some useful strategies for effective exam writing?
• Read the whole paper over before you start. • Pay attention to the values of questions. The marks given are for each whole question (including all sections). • USE A RULER for interpolation. • Write as legibly as you can manage. • Don’t erase things – sometimes they are right! • Find an easy or familiar question to do first. • If the paper asks you to “give” “list” or “name” something, you don’t have to write any explanations. If the paper asks you to “explain”, “discuss” or “describe”, then you do.
