What are some unique characteristics of the Thai culture?
Thailand has been called the “land of smiles.” The people are generally friendly and have an interest in American life and culture. In the dark side, Thailand is home to some of the most decadent cities in the world where prostitution, drugs, and addiction are rampant. Buddhism is generally practiced throughout, especially in regards to life events like marriage and funerals. Islam is predominant in the South. The majority of Thais know little to nothing about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Those who do know something about the Gospel think of it as a “western religion.” Most Thai’s have been taught all of their lives that “to be Thai is to be a Buddhist.
