What are some tips on how to design my quilt?
The best bet is to go with our standard specifications. However, if you have specific requirements, here are some suggestions to keep in mind when designing your quilt. These are just suggestions – not rules. It all depends on the look and function your going for: • Choose a solid color contrasting fabric for the sashing. This enhances the appearance of the quilt by setting off each novelty square by itself. Solid colors work best by not distracting from the novelty elements. Most of our customers like either black or white sashing – it sounds boring, but looks stiking. • Choose a similar color (to your novelty squares) fabric for the sashing for a more monochromatic appearance. Consider putting frames of coordinating fabric around each square to help set them apart. • Omit the sashing if you want a more casual look, or if you have a lot of squares and space is an issue.
