What are some tips for writing good personal statements?
As is true with academic writing in general, it is often a good idea to write a draft of your essay and then come back to it at a later time to work on editing and clarifying. Often students find it helpful to utilize the writing lab in their respective campuses to get feedback on their statement. It is typically not a good idea to rely solely on spelling and grammar checks. Be sure that your statement expands beyond your desire to help people and your personal background; your statement should reflect broader knowledge and experiences that are relevant for your interest in social work. This statement should be about four pages (but no longer than four pages).
