What are some tips for a beginner runner?
Wow- that’s great that you want to prepare! And the fantastic thing about running is that it’s something you can keep with you your whole life. 🙂 The first tip would be, if you can, get good running shoes. If you’re going to be running, you’ll be a lot more prone to injury in shoes not suitable for running. Secondly, make sure you do good stretching before and after running. This insures that you won’t be as sore, and that your muscles can recover properly. Also make sure that you incorporate different kinds of workouts in, not simply long runs. Add in some hills, and possible some faster paced intervals. It’s not a bad idea to use a day or two a week to cross train, i.e. biking or water running, so that you don’t overwork yourself and get injured. Well, there’s a lot more I could say, but I don’t want to overwhelm you. 🙂 Good luck. I’m rooting for you!
