What are some symbols for “caged bird” poem by maya angelou?
Maya has written a short story about this cage bird theme (the poem does not appear in the story). she writes about her mother being called names by the neighborhood children and her mother just silently stood there because she was unable to talk back to the kids (because townspeople would have run her out of town for “talking back” to white people). but Maya felt her mother’s pain of being insulted by kids. when they leave, the mom rejoices that she has Maya and her family and friends and tries to think of better times which are hopefully ahead, even if only in our dreams.
