Good question, some suggestions include: * limit off task behavior and poor behaviour in the classroom to maximise learning. Use the Responsible Teaching Classroom model, students are asked what they should be doing, a consequence is explained if they continue the behavior and if they continue consequence is followed (usually out of the room for a period of time while they explain why actions are wrong and what they will do to change). Unless the class is free to learn free of distractions no student will maximise potential. * use a variety of teaching strategies that meet the various learning styles (visual, audio, collaborative etc). You can test the students and see what the class strengths are and then modify teaching strategies and it will encourage you to use a range of strategies to engage students. * make learning relevant to real life, this allows students to see the relevance of what they are learning and they will engage in it. * be firm, fun and fair, students respond best
