After (too many?) years studying, some of it alongside a full time job, I’ve learnt that simple methods are best. Don’t leave it all to the last minute however tempted you are – our brains generally function better and take in more when we spread out the learning- a few hours (even a half hour) every night over a week rather than staying up all night before an exam, which is stressful, tiring and most definetely no fun at all. Break up your study into small chunks over the week- plan for at least two evenings off when you do something completely different that you enjoy (cinema, dance class, dodgy wine bar, computer games- whatever) but on the nights you’ve reserved for study you must actually STUDY – no messing around and procrastinating. If you are asking personally, how can I make my own study time fun, try setting goals for yourself “baby steps” (from the movie, what about Bob) I had great trouble with study, so I can understand what you are taking about. Get an egg timer and set it for, says half an hour. Then the times up, put the books down and have a break. Slowly increase the time on the egg timer until you reach its maximum limit. Also give yourself (or if your parents are helping out too) greater rewards for the length of study time, the quality of the work and the amount completed. A friend of mine in high school gets an X box game if he gets good grades. I hope this is of some help to you.
