What are some strategies for adopting Drupal?
A. Each organization can decide if, when, and how it wants to use Drupal for site building. Web developers considering the switch to Drupal are welcome to attend UCAR Drupal Users Group (UDUG) meetings which are announced via the cms mailing list. It’s important to include Drupal training for developers and content contributors in any Drupal adoption plan. One strategy, often employed by sites that have hundreds or thousands of pages is to use Drupal to raise a redesigned site alongside the existing site. Many Drupal sites have launched with a www2.lab.ucar.edu URL for this reason, creating a redesigned and refreshed Drupal-based website alongside their existing static HTML site. With that strategy, over time, more and more pages become Drupal pages as important content is migrated and updated and old content can be retired and archived.
