What are some specific examples of more sustainable packaging solutions that Alcan Packaging has developed?
Our focus is on delivering more sustainable packaging and packaging that enhances the sustainability of the complete system (by reducing food spoilage and wastage, improving product use, improving compliance, etc.). Therefore, we are focusing on packaging that protects and delivers food, pharmaceuticals and other products in an efficient way. Here are only some examples of packaging delivering environmental and other sustainability benefits: • Down-gauging in materials to deliver significant material savings, and related upstream and downstream benefits (e.g. transportation, disposal). Our hand soap refill pouches, slender caps and “access denied” caps are among some of the successful examples developed at Alcan Packaging. • Offering films for retort technology making the product shelf stable. Removing the need for refrigeration in any phase of the product life cycle saves energy. • Designing re-closable packages with Laser-Tear that extend product shelf life and eliminate re-packaging
