What are some simple ways to justify algebra?

0

It’s a simple way to assiciate variables with each other without acutally knowing them. I do engineering and we are constantly using algebra to solve complicated problems especially in fluids and dynamics where you have to take a length, L and a weight, W and work out how much load of W can be taken before the sturcture breaks and things like that, without actually having a value for W or L!!!! I just read the question again, a simple way to justify algebra would be finding an unknown or telling people how to find the unknown when they have all the values. An example of this is the gas man coming to read your meter, so he has a computer that works out for him how much you have to pay when he enters how much gas you have used. He doesn’t have to do anything, but the people who came up with the programme that calculates how much the customer has to pay, have done everything. Basically it is a way of simplifying the world for those that can’t do maths!!!!!
