What are some similarities and differences between Hinduism and Buddhism?
there are many differences between hinduism and buddhism.
1. it did not grow out of hinduism (or more correctly Vedic dharma), it is clear bcos buddha rejected many of the theoris in hinduism
2. Lord buddha rejected the idea of creator god.
3.The thory of karma are different in the two religions eventhogh same words are used at times.
4.Buddhists beleive in aftr life, every living being will be born again unless he/she has realized ultimate truth. However it is not reincarnation but it would be more correct to say re birth discussed in buddhism.

Buddhism grew out of the original Dharma religion of Hinduism but is now much different than Hinduism. Hindus believe in both self and God and strive to attain both self-realization and God-realization by knowing both self and God. Buddhists believe in working mainly only on the mind and that there is nothing spiritual beyond the mind. Hindus believe they go through a process of repeated reincarnation until they become perfected enough to be with God. Hindus strive to know God and meditate on God while Buddhists meditate on nothingness. Buddhists do not believe they will continue to exist after death unless they happen to reincarnate into a higher being for a while.
