What are some similar bands to Parkway Drive?
The truth is there aren’t that many bands in the same vein as Parkway. They’re a hardcore band through and through, with strong edges of death metal and thrash. I love PD dearly as they are Aussies like myself and they are slowly but surely taking over the entire hardcore universe one album at a time. Their major-label debut album Killing With A Smile raised the bar extremely high for Australian hardcore, and their sophomore effort Horizons surpassed everybody’s expectations. It’s heavier, faster and more brutal than anything else they’ve done. The production is slick and tidy, yet not taking away from the raw feel of the music. There is a professional critic’s comment on Parkway’s MySpace that rates Horizons up there alongside Master Of Puppets, Reign In Blood, Vulgar Display Of Power and Burn My Eyes as one of the best metal albums ever.
