What are some scientific proofs that the biblical story of Noah and the great flood never happened?
Speaking from my own field, molecular biology and genetics can pinpoint population “bottlenecks” because such bottlenecks drastically decrease the number of alleles (different forms) of each gene which are retained by a species, and the amount of variation in certain noncoding areas of the genome, such as the satellite areas around the centromeres. A bottleneck which reduces a population down to 2, or any single digit for that matter, would not only be immediately apparent in any genome, it would also reduce the variation down to nonviability. I can tell you that there is more than overwhelming evidence that such a bottleneck has never occured in animal species in the last few tens of thousands of years, or at least not until certain species were hit with overhunting in modern times. –If the story of Noah’s Ark was accurate, such a signature, and all its attendant problems, would be immediately and blatantly obvious in the genomes of many species.
