What are some romantic things to do in guayaquil, Ecuador?
Guayaquil has many beaches to visit and a fairly new ‘boarwalk/waterfront promenade’ called the malecón along 2.5km of the Río Guayas. I think a nice stroll along the malecón or one of the beaches could be quite romantic. There is also a botanical garden about a half hour north of town, they have a stellar orchid collection and a butterfly garden which are worth seeing. The best restaurants in town are in the suburbs of the northwestern part of the city, an area called Urdesa. If you like seafood, the Caracol Azul is recommended and sometimes has live music on weekends – although the food is pricey by Ecuadorian standards. Of course, there are lots of bars & nightclubs if a night out dancing is your idea of romantic. There are several parks and nature areas fairly nearby where you could take a hike, soak in a thermal hotspring, go horseback or bicycle riding, maybe even get a little tour by boat or canoe.
