What are some recent and developing trends affecting Construction Managers?
Hi Ken, Although I’m not a construction manager myself, we’ve found that construction managers that we do work with have more highly expanded roles in the industry. CM’s are doing/providing more and more to stay competitve in an industry where I think many projects don’t necessarily think they need a CM (even though the reality is that the few thousand they’ll spend to have on equates to much more savings on the back end). On our own projects, we encourage our clients to have someone to oversee their project from start to finish, be it a GC, a CM, or another third party who’s sole job is to ensure that their project is a smoothly moving machine. Case in point – One of our oft used CM’s became a LEED AP as a way to ensure his Green-based clients that as a manager he understood the processes and reasoning behind certain decisions. A second CM was involved prior to starting construction on another project to ensure that the satellite dishes the client wanted to ad were going to be within
