“really unique baby names” generally translates as “trendy names that celebrities use” and the consequences are usually nasty. Giving a child a non-name like “Apple” or “Cool”, some ancient, one-off kind name like “Moses” or a name so old that it predates the invention of the plough, like “Bloedwyn” is a sure-fire invitation to be endlessly humiliated in school. The same goes for strange spellings of common names, like “Dihan”, “Gustin” or “Daffyd”. How about, Amanda Nicholas Mary Michael I have a not-too-common name and actually met someone in grade ten whose name was ‘Rooth’. Either this was her attempt to “be different” or else her parents failed grade 2 spelling.
