What are some REALLY calm rabbit breeds?
Your bigger breeds tend to be more docile than your dwarfs, but the other answerer(s) are right, every rabbit breed have individual animals that are super-docile or hyper-aggressive. Most breeders try to breed good temperament into their lines. A laid back rabbit is a lot easier to show than a bundle of nerves, but unfortunately sometimes the hyper bunny has exceptional show qualities that keep them in production. My Satins just basically sit around all day, where as my Mini Lops want to be up playing more. If you train a rabbit from birth, you can overcome a lot of anxious behavior. My rabbits don’t mind being handled because they are held from the time they ar born. Noise doesn’t disturb them much, because they always have a radio on in the background. Breeders do many things like this to help the rabbits know they can relax around people.
