What are some pros and cons of advertising to children?
Most of the pros are for the companies that do the advertising. Mainly, they get children hooked on their products and then the children complain to their parents who then buy stuff for the children and the company makes money. Also, for a company like McDonalds, they advertise kid’s meals and such so that they get people hooked on McDonalds while they are young to build customer loyalty. In other words, when the children grow up, they will continue to eat there since they have fond memories of their childhood. The primary con is that advertising to children is bad since children are not smart enough to know what is actually being advertised to them. So, for the McDonalds example, children are not aware that fast food is bad for you and can make you fat. Basically, it causes children to build bad habits like eating junk food and such.
