What are some pros and cons in the field of psychology?
I find the field of psych is very interesting, since it deals with the science of human behaviour. There are many areas of research, and wide application to working in a school, working in a hospital as a neuropsychologist, to working as a HR specialist in an organization. Admittedly, to get into those fields, you would need minimum a Masters. Some issues with this field, however, it that it is not considered a pure science. There is so much that is not fully understood, and while the different perspectives (cognitive, social, behavioural) look at different aspects of human behaviour, there are many conflicting theories. Thus, research is not fast and does not take big strides. This is often frustrating. The prevalence of pop psychology is also detrimental to the true field. A popular personality test, the Myers-Briggs, is often asked in Yahoo Answers, and to be honest, this test is not grounded scientifically AT ALL, but people still look to it to find answers.
