What are some practical ways to overcome Social Anxiety, such as going out to public places?
When I’m working with clients who have social anxiety, I want to know, specifically, what is going on for them. Typically, social anxiety is the fear of doing something embarassing in public. Sometimes it’s a self-esteem issue. There’s a GREAT technique called a “Vertical Descent” or “Downward Arrow” that is very cognitive and used by Cognitive Therapists… I won’t go into detail, but you can probably find more information about it on-line.
