What are some plants that I can have in the house during the winter that with bring some color?
A. Cyclamen- this plant needs bright light but necessarily sunlight. It does not need too much heat. If you place the plant on a tray of moistened pebbles it can prolong the flowers for months after you purchase it. African Violets- This plant needs bright light; again it does not necessarily need sunlight. It does especially well in rooms that are lit with fluorescent lights. It does need to be in warm temperatures inside the house. When watering this plant do not get the leaves wet and only fertilize once a month. With this plant it is also a good idea to place it on a tray with moistened pebbles to ensure that the leaves do not get wet. Hibiscus- This plant of often grown outdoors in tropical regions but here in the north is does well when inside during the winter. It need direct sunlight and average temperatures (during the day not below 70° and at night not below 60°). The hibiscus flowers all year long with only a monthly feeding and when the soil is kept moist. Christmas Cactus-
