What are some original Youth Ministry ideas?
I was a youth minister for 4 years. When we started out, there were only 5 or 6 kids in the group, and we met at a deacon’s house once a week. It grew to over 150 kids in the first year. What did I do? Something that, apparently, no one else was doing. I listened to the kids. The way I would start the service was to simply ask a question that most teenage Christians ask all the time. Like, “How do I remain faithful to God, when I am surrounded by other kids in school that pick on me for it?” Then you just open the floor for discussion. You’ll be amazed at how much more they get out of it than any sermon can provide. The first thing that I noticed was that they began to band together for support throughout the week. They prayed together between classes, couseled one another, and became far more interested in the regular services, and events at the church. That was only the beginning.
