What are some of the test methods and procedures used during a forensic investigation?
A large part of forensic work is related to air infiltration and water penetration. On site tests include; ASTM- E783 ( air infiltration ); ASTM- E 1105, ASTM E514 modified, and AAMA 501.2 ( water penetration ). In conjunction with these test methods, isolation procedures are incorporated to evaluate specific areas/components of the envelope separately. Other types of forensic testing performed on the building envelope include sound transmittance, thermal properties, and structural loads.
