What are some of the symptoms of NPD?
A It is important to understand that NPD is one person’s very private and emotional response to a very traumatic and painful experience. There are almost as many variations of NPD as there are people who suffer from the disorder. This suggests that strict criteria of people suffering from NPD will behave in a predictable manner are very misleading and inaccurate. It appears that there may be certain common emotions and patterns of thinking that someone suffering from NPD may demonstrate. These include: lack of empathy toward others, grandiose thinking, delusions of self-importance, hyper sensitivity to criticism, black and white (all good or bad) thinking, difficulty in intimate relationships, poor eye contact and lack of attachment, anger and rage, feelings of emptiness, guilt, shame and jealousy.
