Excedrin PM is an over-the-counter (OTC) medication indicated for the relief of symptoms caused by pain with sleeplessness in patients older than age 12. This medication contains two active ingredients: acetaminophen (analgesic) and diphenhydramine citrate (nighttime sleep aid). This medication is administered orally (caplets) and the product label for Excedrin PM warns that you should not take more than eight caplets within 24 hours. Side effects for Excedrin PM tend to be mild and should be discussed with your doctor if they occur.
