What are some of the responsibilities and roles of a Health & Safety Committee?
The JHSC has many duties and roles but the primary role of the health and safety committee is to: • To meet the company’s objectives for Health & Safety; • To identify potential hazards in the workplace; • To evaluate these potential hazards; • To carryout monthly inspections of the workplace; • To recommend corrective actions to the Employer; • To follow up on implemented recommends; • Designated WSIB members can investigate work refusals and serious accidents; • To be available and listen and take the necessary action on worker concerns and complaints.
