What are some of the pros and cons of owning a modular home?

You can spec a modular home to be built more solid than a conventional “stick built” home. Some may argue, but show me a stick built home that is built to fly down the highway at 60 MPH. You have to tell the manufacturer what you want, however, or you will get whatever makes them the most money. (cheaper materials, for example). My friend recently purchased a modular, and spec’d it out to his expectations. Upon delivery, we compared it to the local building code, and found that it exceeded code in every category. – For 20K less than stick built. It is a highly regulated industry these days. PRO: Less Expensive Con: Cheaper fixtures (faucets, door hinges, etc…) PRO: Faster move in Time Con: Possible lower resale value than a stick built. (Lower resale value is guaranteed if it isn’t put on a foundation). I wouldn’t be afraid of one.
