If the pump fails that moves the water from the reservoir tank to the collectors the water will simply drain back to the reservoir tank 3. In a glycol system if the 50/50 mixture of food grade glycol and water is overheated it will breakdown and turn acidic. This could occur with a pump or power failure. 4. The distilled water in a drain back system never needs to be changed unlike the 50/50 mixture in a glycol system.
