What are some of the newer business ethics concerns?
Supply chain management is becoming an increasingly important issue for companies, as consumers learn more about the potential environmental and social impact of the products they purchase. Other, recent concerns include Information Technology issues such as data protection and e-commerce. Businesses are also encountering business ethics issues related to globalisation. Companies are also being asked to identify and address their wider impacts on society. For example, NGOs and the media are starting to put pressure on coffee companies over fair trade; on fast food companies over the nutritional value of their products and on alcohol companies over issues such as ‘binge drinking’ by young people.
