The official name of Nicaragua is the Republica de Nicaragua. The capitol city is the city of Managua; and, it is also the largest city in the country. The official current president is Enrique Bolanos. Spanish is the official primary language that is spoken in Nicaragua, although there are places where English is spoken quite readily. There are also places in the country where the languages of the indigenous people are still spoken. Roman Catholic is the predominant religion, vastly outnumbering those claiming to be of a Protestant faith. The official estimate of the population in 2003 was 5,482,340 people.
