Membership in ABC confirms that you are not only interested but want a voice in the education of gifted children. Membership insures that ABC can advocate in district school board and at the Ministry of Education. The Education Act mandates that advocacy groups represented on Special Education Advisory Committees be affiliated with provincial organizations; ABC is THE advocacy group for bright and gifted children in Ontario. Talking to other parents provides relief and a reality check: your child is not the only one who can do higher math but can’t tie shoelaces! And other parents are just as frustrated as you that the school system doesn’t “get it!” Some local chapters organize enrichment and social activities for the children.
