What are some of the common mistakes in grant applications?
Applications can get rejected for many reasons, but here are some of the most common: The writing isnt succinct or intelligible; the budget is inaccurate with inflated numbers; there are typos or grammatical errors; the budget doesnt match the project narrative; the objectives of the proposal cant be measured; there was too much jargon, too many acronyms or buzzwords that rendered it difficult to read; the writer ignored the instructions in the application process; and, the project was not a match with funders interests. As you can see, it doesnt take much to end up in the no pile.
