Again, this would depend on your preferences and values. People don’t generally work in fisheries management to make money or become famous, so other values need to come into play. Most actual “management” jobs are at state, federal, or quasi-federal agencies, but there are also research or teaching positions at universities, and advocacy/conservation opportunities at environmental organizations like the Natural Resources Defense Council, Environmental Defense, Oceana, and the Ocean Conservancy. In traditional management, many people begin work as field biologists for state fish and wildlife agencies, and then move into research or administrative positions.
