What are some of the benefits of participating in the GEMS summer bridge program?
Participants will get a “jump start” on their Agnes Scott College experience by earning 6 hours of academic credit without cost. One of the courses taken in the summer bridge program, the 4 credit First Year Seminar, is a degree requirement. Normally taken in the fall semester, summer bridge participants will have satisfied this requirement before the start of the academic year, allowing for extra flexibility in their fall semester schedule. A second 2 credit course on problem solving in mathematics will apply as elective credit toward the degree. In addition, students will sharpen their problem-solving, critical thinking and writing skills through both course work and supplemental program activities. Finally, by participating in this 7 week program, GEMS summer bridge students will receive an extensive introduction to the ASC campus and resources.
