Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) often said that he could draw before he could speak, an early clue that he would become one of the most prolific and influential artists of the modern world. His technical skill, versatility, originality, and the volume of his work have made him the foremost artist of the twentieth century. Picasso started his formal training at the age of fifteen when he was admitted into advanced classes at the prestigious Royal Academy of Art in Barcelona, Spain.
